In writing the students created paper eggs using patterns and paint. They then wrote descriptive papers about their eggs. We numbered each egg and then mixed them up before hanging them on the bulletin board. The students then put a folded flip card with their number next to their egg writing. Each student took turns reading their descriptive writing to their class to see if they could find which egg was theirs. They then flipped the number card up to confirm their guess. When the guesses were incorrect, we discussed the importance of using good descriptions when writing to give the reader, or audience, a visual of what the author is talking about.

Egg Hunt
First Grade had their annual Egg Hunt today behind the school library. The students raced around finding eggs and then enjoyed a treat of popcorn and juice. It was a great way to end a crazy week (crazy weather-wise here in Texas).

Spring Egg Hunt
Last Thursday we had our grade level Spring Egg Hunt. Due to the weather, we improvised and had our egg hunt in the cafeteria. The students seemed to love it! Following the egg hunt, the students snacked on popcorn and juice. Thank you to the parents for donating the eggs and candy. Click below to enjoy a quick slideshow of their egg hunting.

Egg Hunt and Spring Party
Last Thursday the kids had a great time celebrating Spring. We started our day by creating "bunny bags" which they later used to collect eggs at the annual egg hunt. Following the egg hunt, the kids enjoyed a snack while relaxing with their buddies. Below are a few pictures of the egg hunt and Spring party. There aren't many of the actual egg hunting because the kids were so fast!
